To keep them healthy you will have to add some plant flourish and CO2, when you have a sick fish you will need to put them in a hospital tank or take out all the plants before medicating them. You will not have to if you have fake plants. You also have to check how to take care of them and how fast they grow and how much light they need etc. Java Fern are very easy plants to keep, you should attach them to a piece of driftwood with a sting and their roots will plant into it firmly enough. They do not need a lot of light and they do not grow too fast.
